About Us
The Griffith Exies Club was founded in 1938 – by a driving group of forward thinking RSL Members forming a committee, and with 76 foundation members resulted in the Returned Soldiers and Sailors Club being formed, which was situated in Banna Avenue and then later to the RSL Hall.
The club gradually outgrew its premises and in 1947 The Mirrool House was purchased - the site where the club proudly stands today. It had now become a club that catered to all areas of the community, not confined to on-site facilities but with the foresight of the dedicated group, established a bowls clubhouse and sports club.
This expanding era was brought to an abrupt halt - a fire in the premises on July 24, 1982. Two years later on
July 14, 1984, the new club was officially opened to the public.
The club continued to grow strongly with major construction, upgrading and refurbishment as follows:
1988 Restaurant and Bistro facilities
1992 Mirrool Function Centre.
1994 Exies Sports Complex
1998 Amalgamating with Jondaryan Club.
1999 Bottle Shop and a two level Car park
2005 Exies on Burrell sold (formally Jondaryan Club)
2006 Synethetic greens at Exies Sports Complex
